Question: i see that you have this tumblr on your (what i presume) professional business cards. Do you think it's ok to give professionals a link to your tumblr that has fanart/slash material in it? wouldn't it be considered unprofessional? (I'm having a dilemma about this rn... ;-; )

weeeeeeeellllll ok so

it’s not that i consider my tumblr in anything professional it’s just a blog where i post art but it’s what i have right now. i don’t have a professional site or portfolio site yet bc of reasons, so this is kind of my central hub rn whether i like it or not lol

but MORE IMPORTANTLY these are temp business cards hahahaha i’m attending a big comic convention next weekend so i just wanted to have something to hand out there. like someday i’ll get my ducks in a row and have enough good shit to make a real portfolio type website that’ll look better on a business card and won’t have all my weird fanart on it lol but yeah this is just temporary bc i’m doing a thing

also idk what happened but fuckin everyone knows my tumblr like my parents and their coworkers know my damn tumblr so i’m not really self conscious about what all i post on here anymore haha. i treat my tumblr as an extension of my sketchbook, so it’s not what i would show professionally but it exists and it’s work nonetheless and reflects me as a person and an artist so

i’m assuming you mean at hspva? oh jesus well. i think it was like narrative about personification? cos i could get a lot of milage out of that since it was kind of vague, plus i was into hetalia at the time tbh and that inspired me some aha ha ha aha… in my senior year my concept changed to just be like…. narrative in general, so i could just do whatever i felt like haha. it was kinda bullshit and my artist statements were fucking terrible but yeah

and just so we’re clear i’m not like resentful of having to the concept thing- at the time i was still in the process developing my ideas and i found it more of a challenge to make a lot of work that only pertained to certain subjects (if that makes sense). but i got some of my best work to date out of junior year. as long as you have good work to show and can discus it semi-intelligently, then i’m pretty sure anything can be a concept

i do regret my artsits statements tho omg they were so poorly written cos i didn’t fucking care and DONT DO THAT OK the art teachers keep them in archives and will make fun of you forever ok true story

~~i wasn’t gonna write an iron man 3 post unless asked so wooo excuse to do it!~~ yeah so

spoilers, opinions, and incomplete thoughts under

i thought it was pretty great! it had the same vibe of action/drama/CAMPY as the avengers and though i don’t think it came together quite as well, it was still very entertaining and engaging- like i was really into it and was…. for the most part satisfied

but here the thing- it’s easier for me to list what i didn’t like than to talk about what i did. so!

THE ENDING the fucking ending. it was just wrapped up too perfectly yknow. tony defeats his demons! surgery! pepper fixed! happy lives! we cool! everything cool! we starting over now! i dunno, this is a lot of personal bias and slight emotional attachment but i was kind of disbelief when tony had the surgery and got rid of the arc reactor. like that’s his thing! THAT’S HIS HEART. i dunno like it was all very refreshing and kind of uplifting but also very disappointing at the same time for me

more importantly i feel like the way everything wraps up into a neat little package undermines the struggles the characters went through in the series, especially tony. he just suddenly fixes himself after all the shit he went through in im2? that just bothered me a lot because the arc reactor and how it was keeping him alive was such a hurdle and they just sprinted on through it like, oh yeah we fix it now. i dunno the end was so perfect like when the kid gets off the bus i was half expecting his father to just show up and be like “im sorry i left hugs” like just so much rushed happiness

it’s not that i dont like happy endings it’s just that a lot of it wasn’t built up to and didn’t feel deserved in a way, and instead detracts from all the struggle tony went through in previous movies

also on that point, i felt like the movie had a somewhat confused tone at times. i and the friend i saw the movie with were expecting it to be much darker, seeing as it opens showing tony having a panic attack and being very effected by it. i felt that his anxiety had little pay off and was actually played more for laughs when he teams up with the little boy later on. again, in the end he just kind of gets over it or learns to deal with it- and it’s not that he had no reasons to do so but that idea got kind of lost and muddled in amidst the action and comedy of the movie. i dunno that’s how i felt. i was expecting them to do more with the ptsd he seemed to be having; i was talking to my friend about how it seemed kind of tacked on in the end- tony seemed to have his shit together at the end of the avengers so when the anxiety is introduced and underdeveloped it just seemed like a loose thread

i dunno there’s a lot of ambiguity in the end that leaves a lot of the story open to be explored later, but at the same time this felt like a final movie in a trilogy (idk if they’re making a 4th or what). like i like how they put the “tony stark will return” in the end, as if to assure us there would be more on his story. like i know that was like a bond reference but i’m just like “tch he better like it’s bad enough no more arc reator and antman will be around”

so yeah. i had some major issue with the ending and resolution of the movie but don’t get me wrong i still really liked it otherwise, it’s just easier to rant about what’s wrong than gush about what was awesome

8/10 would watch again

also i wrote this at like 10 am and it’s not the best analysis so if you find fault in my points i’m not rly down to debate but this is just what it thought and the opinion i formed a week after viewing it
